My Great-Uncle Gerry was a truly kind and loving person. I have many fond memories of visiting him as a child. My sister and I would sit on his lap and he would tickle us and pinch our cheeks. I loved sitting at his dining room table listening to him and the other adults talk about movies and the news. Whenever I smell smoke from a pipe I think of him and smile. I am so glad I was able to see him often in my youth and wish I had been able to see him more after I moved out of state. I believe he is at peace now and is reunited with my Great-Aunt Phyllis. We all miss him and will cherish the memories we have of him.

I met Dr. Burday while an employee at the ARC in Hamden, NY. He was a wonderful man, always ready to give advice or help in whatever way was needed. He gave me some personal advice when I first started work and it has carried me through the years since then. I will miss his smile and wit. The world is certainly a better place because of him and his vision has made the ARC of Delaware County the frontrunner in making dreams a reality for those with disabilities by positive approaches. God Bless you, Dr. Burday...

Last year in July I went to visit my mother in Monticello. I have a vivid memory of going to dinner as a family on the lake. On the drive home all my uncle wanted to do was sit with me in the car and hold my hand. The car ride home we held each others hand and like always didn't say much. Now a part me knows that he knew it might be the last time we would be able to see each other. This is a wonderful memory I will always carry with me and a great example of how wonderful my uncle was. He will be missed by many and NY will never be the same with out him.

Gerry had an impact on every single person he ever met and made a positive difference in their life. He was the kindest, gentlest most generous human being I have ever known. I am so blessed to have known him to share good and bad times and honored to have been close to him in the final years of his life. He was my rock, my friend, my mentor, my hero. He will forever hold a special spot in my heart. So long for now JB!
