Obituary of Marilyn F. Gordon
Marilyn Ferber Gordon, 87, of Mongaup Valley, New York died Tuesday, August 2,
2011 at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, New York. She was predeceased by her late husband
Bernard "Bernie" Gordon. They were married for 63 years.
Marilyn was the daughter of the late Jacob "Jack" Ferber and Jane Nathanson-Ferber.
She is survived by three sons, Robert David Gordon, William Henry (Sally) Gordon, James
"Jim" Scott (Star) Gordon; three grandsons, Jonathan Harry Gordon, James "Jamie" Charles
Gordon, Jacob Harrison Gordon; one brother, Norman "Normie" (the late Joan) Ferber; five
nieces, Sharon (Ze'ev) Keisch, Barbara (Barry) Cohen, Lori Gordon, Jayne (Rob) Wall, Elise
(Rick) Roseman; one nephew, Gary Ferber; and many great nieces and great nephews. Also
surviving Marilyn are two brother-in-laws, Samuel Sam (Adele) Gordon, and Marvin Mo
(Shirley) Gordon, and sister in law Susan Ferber.
Her daughter, Claudia, predeceased Marilyn.
Marilyn was a member of the White Lake PTA, and Temple Beth-El. Marilyn was a denmother
of the Cub Scouts in Bethel. She also taught music to Bethel students. Marilyn Graduated
from James Madison High School in 1941. She studied Anthropology, Philosophy, and
Accounting at Brooklyn College in New York City. Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper in a
number of businesses including the family business, BHM Metal Products Company. Marilyn
was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Marilyn raised her family in Mongaup
Valley, New York.
Marilyn's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, aids, therapists, and supporting
staff of Lourdes Hospital at Binghamton, Bridgewater Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing of
Binghamton, the Sullivan County Adult Care Center, and the Catskill Regional Hospital for their
extraordinary effort, skill, resources, and loving care that extended Marilyn's time with her
family.
Funeral service for Marilyn will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, August 7 at the Joseph N.
Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY. Burial will follow at the Temple Beth-El
Cemetery in Bethel, New York 12701.
