I will always remember Leo; little did I know that his presence would mean so much to me later on in life. He managed to find a place for himself in the community of Congregation Ahavath Israel. This was no small achievement given who Leo was. In fact, it was a monumental achievement. He challenged us in our ability to be patient and accepting. As a child, I did not understand him, but as I became older and wiser and gave birth to a child similar to him, I understood him with respect and admiration. His life had purpose since he challenged all of us to be humane and patient. I will never forget him. I wish I could go back in time and go out of my way to be kind towards him; I will never have this opportunity. Leo never knew me, but I knew who he was. His life serves as a lesson to me and others. We must always reach out with acceptance, understanding, patience, and respect. Then we are serving God and mankind.
