Obituary of Sally Irene Salerno

Sally Irene Salerno Of Wurtsboro, New York July 11, 1935-March 25, 2012 76 years old Sally Irene (Rosenfeld) Salerno, 76, of Wurtsboro passed away peacefully at home after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, March 25, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 11, 1935 in Brooklyn to Ben and Pauline Rosenfeld. Sally was the beloved wife of the late Michael Salerno (1995). She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Salerno Costa and husband Bob, her son Brian Salerno and wife Eileen, all of Wurtsboro, as well as several nieces and nephews. Sally was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, Lauren and Rebecca Salerno, and Alexis Costa. She was predeceased by her parents, Ben and Pauline Rosenfeld, brothers Ruby Rosenfeld and Alvin Rosenfeld, and a sister, Rita Stybel. The family would like to thank Dr. Perry and his staff, as well as the Infusion nurses Nicole and Brenda, at Rock Hill Crystal Run. Additionally, they would like to thank her Hospices nurses, Dawn and Mary, for helping her stay comfortable. Sally enjoyed watching TV, especially the Game Show Network and Judge Judy. She also took great pleasure in spending time with her granddaughters, who would stay at her house after school each day. She will be missed. Friends and family will gather, Today, Tuesday, March 27 from 10:30-11:30am, at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, and then proceed to the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Rd, Liberty, NY for graveside services at 12:00 pm. A celebration of Sally's life will be held after the services at The Valley Brook Inn, 201 Kingston Ave, Wurtsboro, NY 12790. Memorial contributions in Sally's name may be made to Hospice of Orange Sullivan County, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home of Monticello.
