Obituary of Anna Kurtz

Anna Rose Kurtz of Mountaindale,NY, a mother, grandmother & great grandmother, passed away Saturday June 18,2016, at Achieve Nursing Facility in Liberty, NY. She was 105 years of age. The daughter of the late Minnie & Abe Goldress, she was born October 12, 1910 at home on Henry St. in New York City. She was married November 24, 1938 to the late Joseph Kurtz in New York City. After finishing school in Mountaindale & Woodridge, NY, she went on to Business school and often boasted about her first job at the Associated Co-Op Fire Insurance Company, in Woodridge, NY. Ann was a life member, past treasurer, & on the board of directors of the Hebrew Congregation of Mountaindale. Ann is survived by her son Chet Kurtz of Mountaindale, Grandson: Randy and his wife Karyn as well as Great Grandsons Jessy, and Tyler. Ann is further survived by Sherman, Randy’s 14 year old ShihTzu. A family statement reads “if you knew Ann, you knew Sherman”. Besides her husband, she was pre deceased by her two sisters, Sylvia Rosenthal & Bertha Rothstein. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 21, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Hebrew Congregation of Mountaindale Synagogue, Route 55, Mountaindale, NY. Burial will immediately follow in the Hebrew Congregation of Mountaindale Synagogue Cemetery, Marsh Road, Glen Wild, NY. Shiva will be observed at 65 Post Hill Rd., Mountaindale, NY on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Donations may be made to the Hebrew Congregation of Mountaindale & the Yeshiva Zichron Mayir of Mountaindale. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc.
