Obituary of Nathan Madnick

Nathan “Nunny” Madnick, formerly of the area, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. He was 99 years old.

 

Nunny was a World War ll Veteran and was awarded a Purple Heart medal along with several other medals. He was a member of the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association and former Fire Chief of the Fallsburg Fire Department, where he served for over 30 years. In his younger days he was an avid ice fisherman and loved to go snowmobiling as well as hunting. He owned and operated Madnick’s Bakery with his sister Esther, and wife Mollie.

 

Survivors include his two sons; Sam Madnick (Nancy) and Jan Madnick, 4 grandchildren; Tracey Madnick Marcus, Seth Madnick, and Troy & Trevor Doelling, 5 great grandchildren; Mollie Bess, Sadie Leigh, Chole Nelle and Maranda & Dillion Doelling, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

Nunny was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Mollie Press Madnick, two brothers; Herman & Phillip, six sisters; Esther, Tillie, Gussie, Celia, Nancy Shandie.

 

He will be greatly missed.

 

A funeral service will take place on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00am at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701 with Rabbi Yakkov Barros officiating. Burial will immediately follow with full military honors at the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association Cemetery, Marsh Road, Glen Wild, NY.

 

Donations can be made to the South Fallsburg Hebrew Association or Fallsburg Fire Department.
