Mieca & Family-
I just heard of your father's passing and I wanted to express how deeply sorry I am. I know how very close you were with your father at a young age as we grew up in Monroe. He would take you to all of your tennis games and cheered you on. He was a warm, friendly, and compassionate man. I know you always enjoyed your special trips to Puerto Rico when he was researching information for another wonderful book. Please always remember these special times. I am thinking of you at this difficult time.
Love Heather (Wenzel) Sznol

"Shall claim of death cause us to grieve
And make our courage faint and fall?
Nay! Let us faith and hope receive-
The rose still grows behind the wall,
Scattering fragrance far and wide
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forevermore.

Deanna, Alex and I send our deepest condolences. When I think of Jay, I always remember an occasion that I don't believe I ever shared with anyone. When I first started practicing as an attorney in New York City, I met the husband of a Partner that was pursuing his PHD in Latin American studies at Columbia. I mentioned that my cousin Jay had written some books on Latin American topics and he immediately asked, "Jay Kinsbruner?" "Yes", I beamed full of family pride. He went on to tell me how Jay's work had been an inspiration to his own studies and direction. I remember asking him if he knew that Jay's father had been a proffesional basketball player and was also in the St. John's Hall of Fame. He did not. Oddly enough, that graduate student is now a history professor at St. John's University.
We send our love and wish we could have been there with the family. We had a lot of fun growing up and Jay was always a part of that fun. We will miss him.
