Obituary of Richard I. Gordon

Harris, NY

Richard Ian Gordon of Harris, NY, and Boynton Beach, FL, passed away on August 14, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was 77.

Rich lived a life of service to his country, his family, his clients and his community.  He was born in Yonkers, NY, on September 21, 1946, the youngest of three brothers. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1965-1969.  He married his high school sweetheart Jane Negri in 1970 and together they moved that year to Harris, where they shared a rich and loving life.  Rich earned a Master's degree in social work from Columbia University in 1979.  Throughout his career in social work, he was devoted to his clients and mastered the art of problem solving for them -- there was never a situation he couldn't or wouldn't handle.  He was a man of many talents and hobbies, having earned his pilot's license and a culinary degree. He loved skiing with his children and friends, bike riding and gardening. He is a past President of Landfield Avenue Synagogue and a member of the Board of Directors of The Arc Greater Hudson Valley.

He leaves behind to treasure his memory his loving wife of 53 years, his children Rebecca, Frieda and Mark, and Joseph and Brooke, his six grandchildren Olivia, Ivy, Elijah, Noah, Lucas and Judah, and his brother Paul.  He was predeceased by his brother Daniel.
