Today is Armistice Day 11th November 2009, 66 years to the day the war was won, a day I reflected upon many times about with Les and the trips my father had in North Africa with the 8th Army. Just a few days ago, I referred an acquaintance to call Les for help on a case, today I open the email to find my dear friend and former Mentor, has gone to a Higher Calling.
Pamela, I am so sad to have only learned today of your loss of your love, companion, and fellow artist in careers. Thank you so much for you and Les for sharing your life work of private investigation work with me, giving me the opportunity to under-study Leslie and your work. I always enjoyed working beside you both, and for opening your lives to include me in your family activities.
For you Pam I give you my deepest sympathies and heartfelt sorrows for such a special person in Les. Thank you. up UP!
For those of you who never met me, I am a South African, oh that would be a White African, as Les would say to friends when he introduced them. I had recently arrived in the uSA, and was living in Kauneonga Lake, not far from where he and Pam built their new home. Les was to me a kind, generous, sincere and best of all very honourable man, he always kept his word with his clients, friends, business associates and respected those he worked with. Through Les, I got to meet many other people and he open doors for me, for which I will be eternally grateful.
My belated and deepest sympathies go out to all of Leslie family especially to his loving and devoted wife, Pamela Sharoff; his brother, Steven, and wife, Nancy, and niece, Morgan; his mother-in-law, Anne Gilbert, his sister-in-law, Melody Taschmann, and her two sons, Chance and Win, and Aunt Roz. Thank you for all the joy Leslie brought to us.
Most Sincerely
Andrew Hugh Meyer

A close friend from Monticello visited me yesterday at my home in Berkeley. Our conversation quickly turned to thoughts of great old friends and relationships rich in the history and lore. "And how is Leslie I asked." Haven't you heard was his answer.
To Stephen, Pamela and all of Leslie's family I offer you my deepest sympathy at your tragic loss of Leslie. My heart reaches out to you all. Leslie and I were "best friends in out youth." It was a miraculous circumstance not unlike that of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Thru circumstances and events we went our separate ways in life. He staying in the Catskill Region and I to the California. I have always felt to this day that the his contributions to my development in terms of looking at life as one great adventure and the need to kindle reltionships with passion, caring, sensitivity and love are in great part a direct outcome of being his close friend.
I have cherished that relationship always. I hope he would be proud of me and all that I have accomplished. I have always looked up to him and his inspiring ways. Sadly we all must mark the passing of wonderful and truly amazing person. May he rest in peace and his memory linger on in the hearts and minds of all of those "lucky one's he touched.
With depest sympathy. I will always miss my friend and "kindrid spirit" for as long as I live.

Although I only knew Leslie as an acquaintance, he was always so full of life and very interesting to talk to! It seemed like everyone knew him which doesn't surprise me. My deepest sympathy to Steven, Nancy, Morgan, Pam and all who loved him. Keep all the wonderful memories of him close to you and he will be with you forever.
