Obituary of Jean Rosenheck

Jean Birnbaum Rosenheck August 15th, 1930-September 15th, 2008 Jean B. Rosenheck, of Glen Wild, NY died September 15th, 2008 in Middletown, NY. She was 78. The daughter of the late Abe and Sarah (Haber) Birnbaum, she was born August 15, 1930 in Monticello, NY. Jean, the youngest of four children, was raised in the familys grocery store in Kauneonga Lake and graduated early from Monticello High School in 1946. Jean followed her siblings in graduating from Syracuse University, earning her Bachelors degree in both Psychology and Sociology. Jean was an active member of the Sullivan County community her entire life. She served many years on the Monticello School Board, where she was also its president. Jean was a member and president of the Sullivan County School Boards Association. She was a past member of the Temple Sholom board of directors, a member of the Catskill Mountain chapter of the Business and Professional Womens Association and a past BPW Woman of the Year. She was Vice-President of the Rock Hill Development Corporation and created and operated Princess Advertising Specialties, a multi-award winning advertising company that lead the way in promoting Sullivan County businesses for 47 years. She was an avid bowler and spent many years an active member of the Ladies Bowling Association in Kiamesha. Jean is survived by her husband of 53 years, Seymour, her daughter, Sari, her grandson, Alec, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Daniel Birnbaum and Morris Birnbaum, and by her sister Mary B. Zimmerman. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 at Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home, 388 Broadway, Monticello. Rabbi Marvin Goldman will officate. Burial will be in Tempel Beth-El cemetery Route 17B Bethel, NY. The family will be sitting Shiva at Seymour Rosenhecks house in Glen Wild on Thursday and Friday from 4-7pm, and at Sari Rosenhecks house in Rock Hill on Sunday from 1-5pm Memorial contributions in Jeans name made be made to the Catskill Mountain Business and Professional Womens Association, Jean B.
