Obituary of Sylvia Brafman

SYLVIA BRAFMAN Monticello, NY May 30, 1936 - October 24, 2009 Sylvia Brafman was born May 30, 1936 and a life time resident of Sullivan County. Sylvia was the Daughter of Aaron and Clara Ziegler. Sylvia passed away quietly at the age of 73, after a long courageous battle from ovarian cancer, with her family at home in Monticello. Surviving family are her husband Ira Monis of Monticello, son's Ari & (Alison) Brafman of Westfield, New Jersey, Abraham & (Carol) Brafman of Cortland, New York, Ben & (Suzanne) Brafman of Plantation, Florida, and daughter, April & (Mitch) Katz of Livingston, New Jersey, along with seventeen grandchildren. Preceding her in passing was her eldest daughter, Andrea Weiler and surviving son-in-law Robert of Syracuse, New York. Sylvia was a former President of Weight Watchers, held a Masters in Nutritional Counseling and a published author. "Eat what's right not what's left." Sylvia Brafman, will always be the beloved mother and inspiration to all who knew her and there are a lot who did. She welcomed all to her home, saying, "There's always room for one more." You could never leave her home without a bite to eat and wanting more. To the grandchildren she was the Pied Piper to the rest of us, she was the touchstone. We will so dearly miss the conversations, the steadfastness and the Challah. The family will receive friends at The Temple Shalom from 1:30 pm till 3:00 pm with funeral services to follow at 3:00 pm, on Sunday, October 25, 2009.
