Obituary of Ann Rustic
Sunrise, Sunset. Ann Rustic, lovingly known as 'Bubbe' by her children, grandchildren and friends, took her angel granddaughter, Allyson Strong's hand on May 28, 2015 after a long illness.
Daughter of William and Ida Osit. Ann was born on November 22, 1922 in Springfield, MA as the youngest of her eight siblings, who all grew up in Brooklyn, NY.
She is the wife of the late Walter Rustic, a longtime business owner of The Rustic Inn in Monticello. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Strong and her husband, James Reno; her son, Jack Rustic and his wife, Barbara; her grandchildren: Katy Strong, Sarah and Abigail Rustic; many nieces and nephews and a large extended family of friends, all very close to her heart.
Proud and hardworking are two words that immediately come to mind in describing Ann. Following her 80th birthday, she retired after spending many years at the Bon Tres Beauty Salon in Monticello. She truly exemplified what a strong, independent woman should be. With her witty sense of humor and her voracious love of family, she will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. at Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home 388 Broadway in Monticello on Sunday, May 31st at 1 p.m. with Rabbi Stamler officiating. Burial will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel, immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Allyson Whitney Foundation, PO Box 586, Rock Hill, New York 12775 www.allysonwhitney.org
