Obituary of Stanley Ehrenberg

Stanley Ehrenberg was born in Brooklyn 1924 and died peacefully at the NYS Veterans in Montrose on November 5,2015. At age 18 he became a soldier in WWII and travelled through Europe in Patton's Third Army as a mortar gunner. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, among others, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Photography has been his first love from the time he was given his first camera at age 13. Coming back to the states after service he pursued his love of photography. He graduated from the New York Institute of Photography and built his own photography studio which became the largest commercial photography studio on Long Island. His grandfather would bring him to the Catskills in the summers and from there a love of the land grew. Stan was able to sell his commercial studio and buy his land, "his own national park" and retire at age 45 and to pursue more of his creative works. As a master of composition, he would create a still life photo, maybe with fruit, flowers, antique tins, sometimes a little kitten with flowers and an antique prop and loved to photograph the beautiful landscape of the Hudson Valley. He was encouraged by his friends to travel to art and craft shows to sell his work. He designed a product that properly displayed his work and travelled the Northeast. Stan enjoyed meeting the people who loved his work wherever he went. After opening a gallery and frame shop in the area, he continued to travel and was discovered by publishers from New York and New England who published and sold his work throughout the United States and internationally. He is survived by his loving family. His wife Peggy of Glen Wild, his son Peter of Bethel. From his first wife, Dora (pre-deceased) his son Howard and his wife Elaine of Long Island, his son Edward and his wife Anne of Swan Lake, and his daughter Marcia of West Palm Beach, Florida. Stan is further survived by his beloved grandchildren: Seth, Elana, Allison (Myles), Marissa (Derick), and Lauren (Andrew), 7 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. Stan worked hard his entire life and we will be forever grateful for the beauty he left behind. He was much loved by his family and will be deeply missed.
