Obituary of Rose Barr
Rose Barr, lifelong Hurleyville resident, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016 She died peacefully, in the Brooklyn home of her daughter, Alyce Barr and son-in-law, Joseph DiChiara in Brooklyn, NY. Born in Brooklyn in 1913, Rose was 102 years old. She is survived by Alyce and Joseph, their children Magdalena Barr-DiChiara, husband Zachary Katz, and their son, Elias Isadore Katz, of Brooklyn, NY; Hannah Barr-DiChiara, husband, David Wilson of Oakland, CA; and Julian Barr-DiChiara, partner Kira Krevey, of New York, NY.

A funeral service took take place on Sunday January 10, 2016 at 1:30PM at Congregation Ansche Hurleyville, Main Street, Hurleyville, NY with Rabbi Ben Zion Chanowitz officiating. Burial followed at the Congregation Ansche Hurleyville Cemetery, Cemetery Rd, Hurleyville, NY.
Rose Barr's family and the Fallsburg Central School District, where Rose taught for 35 years, have arranged for a scholarship fund in her name. It will be used to support high school students who wish to become teachers. Memorial donations can be made to the Fallsburg Central School District, PO Box124, 115 Brickman Road. Fallsburg, NY 12733 with the notation Rose Barr Memorial Scholarship Fund.
