I always thought of Lila as a beautiful person, inside and out; warm, intelligent, friendly, and uniquely statuesque; always stunning in appearance, always graceful yet strong, poised and radiant. Your mother and father were vital to the Hurleyville community, especially to the Jewish community. I know my family held them and your entire family in high regard; even as a kid I could sense what seemed to be a magical electricity between them, like Bogey and Bacall. I didn't see Lila all that often, though she was a friend of my mother, but when I did see her, most often at synagogue services, it was always special, because she was special. My most sincere sympathies to the family.

Lila was an exceptional, gracious, elegant woman and it was an honor to know her and be in her company. She was a second mom to Steve, Mike, Jim and Dennis and to all the Schwartz Family throughout their entire lives. The love she gave first to Karen, Tommy and Sam extended to many, many others. We are grateful for the love and kindness she received from Harold Gold in her last years. We will always miss her and hold our love for her in our hearts forever.

Lila was an elegant woman. She had an inherent grace and style that I always admired. Your home in Hurleyville remains an inspiration to me to this day.
She was a great friend to my mother, Rose and father, Sam. I recall with a smile the costume parties they arranged in the Hurleyville synagogue. I remember my mom and Lila laughing at the upright piano till tears ran down their faces.
Lila has left an indelible print on all of us Penskis.

Lila was a great friend of our family. She was a second mother to my brother and sister and me from the time we were born until we graduated from high school and after. When I think of our years in Hurleyville, Lila always comes to mind. She was with us every step of way, attending our grade school and junior and senior high school functions, and also Hebrew school functions. She fed us when our parents were away or we were just playing in the neighborhood. She went to our basketball games , little league games and school plays. When I played clarinet solos in high school competition, Lila was my accompanist on the piano. She spends hours practicing with me over the several years that I competed. And of course, Lila and Joe were great friends to our parents. Please accept our condolences.
