Obituary of Herbert Katzoff

Herbert Katzoff, of Lake Huntington and DeWitt, New York passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was 87. The son of Samuel and Mary Katzoff, Herbert was born on August 6, 1929 in Liberty, NY. A graduate of Narrowsburg Central School, Herb was a Naval Veteran, serving in the Korean War from 1948 to 1952. He was the Vice-President of Manor Poultry before moving to Syracuse where he owned and operated Martin and Tennenbaum’s Kosher Meat Market until he retired. Herb’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends and sharing a story or joke. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Doris (Fredenburg); daughters Rhonda (Mark Roe) and Susan (Bill Sherwood); beloved grandchildren Sam and Jake Mason, Molly and Liam Sherwood as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 31, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home Inc, 388 Broadway, Monticello, NY 12701. Burial will immediately follow at the Jeffersonville Synagogue Cemetery, Route 52, Jeffersonville, NY. The family will be sitting shiva at the home of Susan and William Sherwood at 6300 Danbury Dr., Jamesville, NY on Thursday September 1st from 5-8 and Sunday September 4th from 11-1.
