Shirley Kramer Goldstein passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016, in New Jersey. She was 92 years old.
Shirley was an avid reader and an excellent cook. She was active in her community serving as President of the Sisterhood of the Landfield Avenue Temple, President of the Jewish Community Center, and President of Hadassah. Shirley when not holding office in the many organizations she belonged, was an active member participating in the many events they held. Her Brisket for the Rummage Sale, was a requested item by many due to its delicious taste. There was never any left after a few hours.
Shirley was born in Brooklyn. NY on June 1st, 1924 to Ethel and Max Kramer. When she married attorney, Carl P. Goldstein, she moved upstate to Monticello, NY. Shirley graduated from Girls High School and attended NYU where she received a BS in Business Administration. After college, she opened the Parker Pen Corporation which sold advertising products to area businesses.
Shirley is survived by her three children: Bettina (spouse, Roger), Dora, and Philip (spouse, Susan): three grandchildren: Elliott, Ethan, and Ezra. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Elayne, who was more of a sister, and many, many nieces and nephews all of whom she cared for and loved. Shirley was predeceased in death by her parents, Max and Ethel Kramer, Her brother, Hon. Irving Kramer, her loving husband, Carl P. Goldstein, and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in law.
Shirley was loved by many and will surely be missed by her family and community.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 1st at the Joseph N. Garlick Funeral Home 388 Broadway in Monticello. Burial will follow at the Landfield Avenue Cemetery, Thompson Rd. Monticello. Rabbi Simcha will officiate.
